Wisconsin Walks History
DOB: 10/2/02, in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, on Walk to School Day.

 

Our Goals:

Goal #1: Support and expand walk to school initiatives.   Strategy: Work with potential partners, including
parents, police, PTAs, schools, and children.
Goal #2: Give tools to people in Wisconsin to make their communities more walkable.   Strategy: Build a website, offer Walking Workshops
Goal #3: Generate a statewide educational campaign about pedestrian safety.   Strategy: Work with the Wisconsin Departments of
Transportation, Health & Family Services, Natural
Resources, and Commerce.
Goal #4: Promote walkable communities.   Strategy: Work with planners, builders, architects,
engineers, business owners and others to advocate
putting pedestrians first in the design of neighborhoods,
schools, business districts, commercial centers, roads,
and parking lots.

Our Mission:

Wisconsin Walks promotes walking for transportation, health and recreation and collaborates with individuals and communities to create walkable places that are delightful, safe and accessible for everyone.

Everyone is a pedestrian!  
Wisconsin Walks speaks up for your feet.
